For some time, I’ve been using Amazon.com’s Jungle Disk as my external backup solution. Overnight, Jungle Disk uploads critical files, songs, videos, photos, and documents to one of Amazon.com’s S3 servers. For just a buck a month, I can access those files from any web browser; should my computer’s hard drive fail, my most important stuff will be available from my Jungle Disk.
Space on the Jungle Disk costs me a whopping fifteen cents a month per gigabyte; for the last few months, with universal web access to my files included, my bill has run just under two bucks a month.
At that rate, it’s harder and harder to justify the cost of an external hard drive (about $125 at Amazon.com) … and impossible to justify paying $99.00 a year to Apple for MobileMe’s unreliable data “push” feature and a measly 20 gigabytes — especially since a combination of Spanning Synch ($25.00 — or just $20.00 if you purchase it through MadeByMark.com), Gmail, and Google Calendar gives me virtually the same features for a lot less money.

You should check out SMEStorage.com also. Not only will you be able to access the files through a variety of channels that you upload to S3 on Jungle Disk, but you can backup the whole lot Google Mail so you have a backup of your storage cloud !
