Wow — since that veiled reference I made the other day to an online fiction-writing project, I've received a huge amount of positive feedback (here, in the comments, and also via email) from folks who are curious, supportive, and eager to see what I've come up with.
So: here it is. I call the site ReallyNovel.com, and it has only one purpose: getting novels out of my head and into the world as quickly and efficiently as possible.
At ReallyNovel.com, I'll be publishing almost-daily updates to my online writer's notebook. There, in addition to scenes and chapters from the book I'm currently working on, you'll also find the behind-the-scenes work (character profiles, sketches, scraps of settings and bits of dialogue, and "work in progress insights") that writers usually don't show the world.
Right now, I'm just getting started on a new book — Husbands & Lies. Currently, there's not much there (some information about the book in general and some character profiles), but soon, I'll be posting a first draft of the chapter-by-chapter outline, and soon after that, actual scenes and chapters will appear.
Everything at ReallyNovel.com is a work in progress, so this is not a destination for the faint of heart or for those who like everything polished and perfected before it's made public.
Another thing: the books I'm writing at ReallyNovel.com are the books I've been feeling compelled to write for ages — stories I've been carrying around in my head for far, far too long. Some of these will delight you … but I'm also very much aware that not everything I'm going to write will appeal to everyone. If one story doesn't work for you, stick around … maybe the next novel will.
