The Problem with Lying

The problem with lying is that, eventually, it gets harder and harder to remember what you’ve said earlier — apparently even within the space of a single interview.

Donald Trump tweeted on November 27, 2016:

President Trump, in an ABC News interview on January 25, 2017, at first, agrees he made this claimt:

And, then, seconds later, in the same interview, President Trump denies he said it:

So … he said it, and admits he said it, but then denies he said it.

Note, too, how the story about the popular vote is changing. Once, Mr. Trump says, “I won the popular vote.” Later he says, “I would have won the popular vote if I was campaigning for the popular vote.” Again — all in the space of a single interview.
